Bleed Blue

So a few weeks ago BYU played Texas, and there was a 2 hour rain delay. Which we sat through. It poured. And we got soaked. Like, you-literally-look-like-you-just-jumped-into-a-pool kind of soaked. But it was awesome, and Spencer ran home and got clean clothes and smuggled in hot chocolate for me, and then the game ended up being really exciting. So it was all worth it.

A few weeks later, after years of wanting to, I finally went to my first BYU vs. Utah football game!

And it really wasn't a very good game.

But it was fun anyways!

Please enjoy the following montage of pictures/videos, for the only words I could use would express too vividly my disappointment in the outcome of the game...

Just a SMALL portion of the line that
wrapped around the entire stadium...

...And then crossed and wound down the street.

Krystal was so excited for her first BYU game!

I told him to make his most excited face. This is what he
came up with. My husband, people.

We were right next to this girl in line...

...And she ended up on the big screen!

Making good use of the 2 hours
of waiting

This is my family....

Cool shot I found online. We were there!

The beloved fight song. Or, the end of it at least.

BYU!

Kickoff. WooooooOAH!

Final score Utah 20 BYU 13.

Well, at least it didn't rain on us!

Busy, Busy, Busy

We made it to Provo! Whew, NO MORE DRIVING for me for a while. We decided to take a southern route and swing through Dallas to see my brother and sister-in-law. They weren't able to make it to our family reunion this summer so we wanted to make sure to see them. Sean and Becky are super awesome and we loved staying with them. They even put together a family dinner with the local cousins, some whom I haven't seen in years! It was so much fun and even made Spencer and I wonder if maybe we could end up in Dallas sometime down the road...

Then we finally made it to Utah. With the help of Spencer's sisters and some amazing friends we got all of our stuff out of storage and into our new apartment. But I have to tell you, I am still reeling from how much stuff we own. We only took what fit in our car to Illinois last summer, in China we lived off of almost nothing, and then in South Carolina we had the same things we had in Illinois. So to come back to a full 10x10x14 foot storage unit was overwhelming. But we got it all in our new place. And I'm ashamed to say that we still haven't unpacked it all (finishing is this week's project...).

But we are seriously loving being back at good ole BYU. We have been BUSY and running around all over the place but I love it. Between days spent with family (baby blessing on Spencer's side, helping sisters move in, and spending Labor Day with my siblings), hanging out with old friends (including Flagship friends!), and the start of school and work we have spent very little time in our apartment since we moved in (hence the not being unpacked yet).

The Bowen siblings, all at BYU!

The Packard siblings: missing Nate, Sean, and Adam.

First day of school!

And first day of work in 2 years!

I am super excited and loving working again. The day we drove into Provo I submitted about 20 applications. By noon the next day I had five interviews set up, and by the end of that same day I had three job offers. They were all very different, but I ended up choosing to work at Kneader's, a bakery and cafe restaurant that is one of my very favorite places to eat. The pay is actually more than most of the other jobs I was considering (it's amazing for a restaurant job) and it doesn't require me to sit on the phone or deal with angry customers all day. Win-win for me!

So there you have it. Spencer is now into his senior year and we are looking forward to graduation. I've started working and am seriously enjoying always having things to do. We love being surrounded by family and old friends. What else am I missing...?

Oh yeah, Spencer officially has officially signed with Celanese and we will be moving back to Illinois next summer!

Before I Forget...

So once upon a time (long, long ago) when Spencer and Alisha were still single they met a wild and crazy girl from the faraway land of The South named Azie. Spencer and Alisha immediately befriended Azie and loved to be around her. They had many adventures together and grew very close. When Spencer and Alisha FINALLY decided to be wed, Azie was one of the very first to know, and she was one of the very most excited for them. Spencer and Alisha asked Azie to be the "Best Person" at their wedding, for Spencer wanted her to fill the position of best man and Alisha wanted her to be her maid of honor and they could not decide who should be able to claim her.

Ok, enough of the fairytale. Azie is one of our very best friends, if you couldn't tell. She is a hoot and a holler (just something I imagine Azie might say) and we love her dearly. A few weeks ago she was in Georgia visiting her family and she invited us to come spend a couple of days with them. We were hesitant to intrude, but we haven't seen her since we got married so off to Dillard we went. We had a blast and we loved seeing her and her husband Kyle and getting to know her family. Everyone was so welcoming and we felt right at home. We went swimming, played games, went to a petting zoo, sat around the fire and made s'mores, played with her niece and nephews, saw goats on the roof (Random, right? Check it out here), and played lots and lots of horseshoes.

Miss Sassy Pants

Love him.

It was a really awesome weekend, and I'm so glad we got to spend some time with Azie and Kyle. We love you Azie Kay, the A-Team will live on forever!

Definitely in the South...
